Lisa started playing tuba aged 13 under the tuition of Moira Ross. She quickly began playing in brass bands, concert bands and orchestras in Aberdeen. In 2005 she completed a course in instrumental teaching at Aberdeen College (DipMusT (ICMA) and had the privilege of receiving lessons from David James.
She has played e-flat bass with Bon Accord Silver Band, Granite City Brass, and Wellington (Telford) Brass Band. In 2009 an opportunity arose to play baritone with Granite City Brass and from there Lisa has moved through the sections and is currently playing flugelhorn with Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass and 1st horn at Shrewsbury Brass Band.
Highlights of Lisa's time banding have been playing in the national finals in 2007 with Granite City Brass and again in 2012 with Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass.
With a passion for the brass band movement Lisa encourages everyone who is interested to pick up an instrument and join a band.
Having passed grade 8 on tenor horn, Lisa is now working toward the ATCL and is looking forward to starting to work toward the DipABRSM in Music Direction
When not playing in bands she also enjoys singing and currently sings tenor for Of One Accord.
Lisa also plays a variety of brass instruments (not all at the same time) with Vorpsrung Durch Oompah.
Lisa also holds honours degrees in Biology and Nursing and has recently completed her Masters Degree in Nursing..
